Ecology is dying from its inability to engage with the working classes. Fatima Ouassak’s message here is to show us how any green politics worthy of the name must be rooted in the actual living conditions of working-class neighbourhoods to offer the latter a realistic means of social liberation.
Fatima Ouassak is a political scientist, and co-founder of the Front de mères and Verdragon, the leading union of parents of pupils from working-class neighbourhoods, and president of the Classe/Genre/Race network, which combats the discrimination suffered by women descended from post-colonial immigrants.
