Christian Laval est professeur émérite de sociologie à l’université Paris-Nanterre.
Ten years after La Nouvelle École capitaliste [The New Capitalist Schooling], this book sets out to clear up and connect the principles that teachers must implement as soon as possible to prepare, within the limits of the possible, an alternative to capitalist schooling and make education a true commons.
How should people today be educated? What future should we imagine and be working toward? It is time to redesign the educational system from head to toe within the scope of a united, egalitarian, and environmentally friendly society. This book intends to do its part in helping us reach that intellectual and political goal.
In addition to their respective individual works, Christian Laval and Francis Vergne co-wrote La Nouvelle École capitaliste (The New Capitalist Schooling, La Découverte, 2011). Since then, they have directed their efforts toward alternative schooling, in partnership with unions and teacher’s collectives.
