As the 1960s drew to an end, a generation was marked by the events of May ’68, which combined every kind of liberation – political, social, aesthetic and lifestyle –and held steady against the backdrop of political quasi-status quo. This situation would have a lasting effect on the different forms of counterculture and, unwittingly, create new forms of the avant-garde in which popular culture would have an unprecedented influence on more traditional knowledge and fields of culture.
François Piron is an art critic and exhibition curator. He has been a professor and the director of the postgraduate programme at Ensba Lyon (Ecole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon) since 2012. He has organised numerous exhibitions including Impressions de Raymond Roussel, at the Musée Reina Sofia (2011) and the Palais de Tokyo (2013).
Guillaume Désanges is an art critic and exhibition curator. In particular he organised the Érudition Concrète series of exhibitions qt Plateau-Frac in the Paris region (2009-2010), and the Erre exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Metz (2012).
