In 1985, Robert Doisneau accepted a photographic commission as part of the Datar (Interministerial Delegation of Land Planning and Regional Attractiveness) mission. For this project he chose to return to “his” territory, the suburbs, which he had brought under the spotlight in famous works. This time he decided to use a more varied approach, using color for the first time and a larger format. In this work a hundred or so photographs reveal his artistic journey.
Claude Eveno is a film-maker, town planner and author. He founded and was the editor of the Revue des Cahiers du centre de création industrielle at the Centre Pompidou. He has taught in the town planning department of the Université Paris VIII and at the École nationale supérieure de la nature et du paysage de Blois. He has also been a program adviser at the France-Culture radio station and the director of studies at the Ecole nationale supérieure de création industrielle. He is the author of numerous works (recently with Editions Christian Bourgois Revoir Paris (2017) and L’Humeur paysagère (2015).
