Platforms (Airbnb, for example) have come to occupy a dominant place in our professional and personal lives. What do these new economic entities represent? What rules govern their exchanges and the economic equilibrium within them? Are they are a promise of freedom and openness, or rather, of control over our lives?
A graduate of the École normale supérieure (Ulm), Maya Bacache-Beauvallet holds an agrégation in economic and social science as well as a doctorate in economic science. She was a lecture and researcher at the ENS (Ulm), then a professor of economic science at Télécom Paris. She is a current member of the board of France’s Electronic Communications, Postal and Print media distribution Regulatory Authority, ARCEP. Her research focuses on the transformations of the digital economy and the regulation of innovation.
A graduate of Télécom Paris, Marc Bourreau holds a doctorate in economic science. He is a professor of industrial economics at Télécom Paris and academic co-director of the Centre on Regulation in Europe think tank (CERRE). He also teaches digital economics at the École polytechnique. His research focuses on issues of competition and regulation in the digital economy.
