For the last 50 years in France, French lycée students in the Economics and Social Sciences (ES) preparation programme for the baccalauréat have learned how to better analyse and understand the world they live in. This unique work is mainly geared towards students preparing the entrance exam for this programme and at its teachers (there are over 5000 of them). In a very concise manner, it explores the historical, epistemological, didactic and pedagogical dimensions of Economics and Social Sciences, each dimension considered to be one interdependent facet of a single project.
The work has been edited by Marjorie Galy, Erwan Le Nader and Pascal Combemale and written by Pascal Binet, Aurélie Blanc, Thomas Blanchet, Guy Braun, Frédéric Combelle, Elisabeth Chatel, Gérard Grosse, Gisèle Jean, Rémi Jeannin, Claire Joigneaux-Desplanques, Jean Lawruszenko, Bruno Magliulo, Igor Martinache, Jean-Yves Mas, Pierre Maura, Laurence Maurin, Arnaud Parienty, Jean-Paul Robin, and Philippe Watrelot. They are all current or former professors of Economics and Social Sciences at the secondary level. Many of them have also worked at the teacher training institutes IUFM or ESPE.
