The renaissance of the use of biographical information in sociology is raising a series of questions. Isn’t it a contradiction in terms to study the particular to describe the general? Why do some sociologists consider the biographical as an essential source of knowledge of social realities, while others see that data as unreliable? What use do sociologists make of biographical material?
This work presents a clear overview of the challenges, methodology and contributions of this new practice.
