Crowdfunding has spread worldwide as part of “positive finance” and is on the rise thanks to the Internet. Is it just a passing trend or a lasting alternative to other forms of finance? Who are the major players? Don’t idea champions, investors and platforms all have the same interests in mind? Can crowdfunding fund anything? These are the questions this work attempts to answer.

Alain Chevalier, ESSEC, a professor at ESCP Europe, PhD, HdR, and former dean, he teaches financial politics and engineering to companies and banks.
Jean-Yves Léger, a communications consultant, teaches at ESCP-Europe, at IHF and Neoma Business School. A former financial analyst, he was communications director at BSN/Dannon and LVMH, then partner with Euro RSCG C&O/Havas.
Aurélie Sannajust, PhD, HdR, lecturer at the University of Saint-Étienne, teaches company finance at Paris-Dauphine, EM Lyon and ENS.
