In the late 1980s, international negociations were first launched to prevent the risk of "dangerous interference with the climate of the planet." But to date they have not yet led to a convincing architecture of international action. This informed and committed book suggests ways of exiting impasses by shifting the questioning and helping settle hesitations about the nature of the situation created by greenhouse gas emissions and threats to the climate.
Olivier Godard is a researcher at the EHESS, at the CNRS, and at the École polytechnique who since 1973 has been interested in interactions between the environment and the development of economic and social sciences' point of view and the theory of systems. Since 1990, he has devoted his work to the issue of global climate change.
