The concept of a community oriented economy stems from an age-old ideal of community based socialism, promoting cooperative social relations in work, production, consumption and mutual aid. Nowadays, it constitutes a variety of grass roots scenarios, committed to an alternative economy, compatible with a fair and inclusive social ecological transition.
Timothée Duverger has a PhD in history and teaches at Sciences Po Bordeaux, where he is the director of the TerrESS chair, the masters in "Community Oriented Economy and Social Innovation" (ESSIS) as well as the executive masters in "Strategies, local communities and Innovative Projects in Community Oriented Economy" (STPI-ESS). He is a research fellow at the Émile-Durkheim Centre where his work focuses on the institutionalization dynamics of the Community Oriented Economy (ESS).
