Traditional production processes follow the same old sequence of extract, manufacture, consume, throw away. A pattern often accelerated by programmed obsolescence. The circular economy counteracts this by creating an alternative cycle that incorporates environmental impacts right from the design stage, a sustainable consumption process and a longer product lifespan, including sorting and recycling.
Franck Aggeri is a professor of management at the CGS of Mines Paris-PSL, specializing in the circular economy, ecological transition issues and sustainable innovation. He is also co-director of the "Mines urbaines" chair dedicated to the circular economy and columnist for Alternatives économiques.
Rémi Beulque spent ten years as a practitioner in the field of sustainable innovation and the circular economy with Schneider-Electric, Renault and Eco-mobilier. He is now a lecturer and researcher at ISC Paris and an associate researcher at the CGS of Mines Paris-PSL.
Helen Micheaux is a lecturer in environmental management at AgroParisTech. Her teaching and research work focuses on corporate social responsibility, the circular economy and business models. She conducts her research in the SADAPT laboratory of INRAE and in collaboration with the CGS of Mines Paris-PSL.
