This book is the result of a meeting between Laurent Borredon, journalist at Le Monde, and Pierre Torres, photographer, blogger and activist who set out in 2011 to witness the revolutions in Libya and Syria, where he was kidnapped and held prisoner for a year by the Islamic State. More than a simple description this book reflects on the revolution, commitment, and hopes of young people on both sides of the Mediterranean.
Pierre Torres aged 30, is a biologist and photographer who decided to travel to Libya in 2011. He, was part of a group that wrote a blog “En route” on the Arab Spring. The blog recounted, in particular, the battle of Misrata from inside the city. He then went to Syria where he was kidnapped by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.
Laurent Borredon, aged 34, is a journalist for the Monde newspaper who specialises in security. He is the co-author of the book Valls, à l’intérieur (Valls, Minister of the Interior) (Robert Laffont, 2014).
