Andreas Mayer has taken up the challenge to make the work of a major author accessible while taking everything that has been written about it into account. He takes a neutral position, distancing himself from the arguments about interpretation and quarrels about succession, as he uses his considerable knowledge to convey Freud’s ideas.
Andreas Mayer, a sociologist and historian of science is a research director at the CNRS. His works on the history of psychoanalysis and social sciences have been translated into several languages. With Lydia Marinelli he published Rêver avec Freud. L’histoire collective de L’Interprétation du rêve (Aubier, 2009). (Dreaming by the Book, Other Press).
