Howard S. Becker is internationally recognized as one of the most important American sociologists of the second half of the 20th century.
While Becker’s writings do not form a unified whole, there is nonetheless a way to discern his hand, an ensemble of devices to which he regularly resorts. This book proposes to outline these devices, to enter Howard Becker’s sociological workshop, a place where, as readers will delightedly discover, sociological knowledge is not only produced but can be learned as well.
