For more than 50 years we have witnessed the taking of power by economists, who have become omnipresent. And they don't settle for talking. In many countries, economic experts, often not members of any political party, occupy the post of Minister of the Economy or multiple other high-level roles in government. The author investigates from a sociological perspective the ways in which economists have established themselves, and the manner in which critics question them.
Mariana Heredia, a sociologist, defended her thesis at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales with Luc Boltanski. She teaches at the University of Buenos Aires.
